About Traxotic Networking SSL certificates
For offering secure hosting services (HTTPS, SMTPS, IMAPS, POP3S) Traxotic Networking has set up its own Public Key Infrastructure based on the X.509 standard. This basically means that Traxotic Networking acts as a Certification Authority issueing digital certificates to itself and its clients. If you use services with digital certificates issues by Traxotic Networking (for example our Webmail page) you should set our self-signed root certificate as a trusted certification authority.
Download our root certificate at www.traxotic.net/ca.crt. Now use one of the following hashes to verify your download.
The root certificate's SHA1 fingerprint (stored inside the certificate).
8C:14:7D:50:BD:0D:6C:4A:5F:E0:39:83:4D:B6:CA:70:DC:01:42:D1
The SHA1 hash of the root certificate file:
29:A6:5B:62:65:13:E1:9E:35:37:F4:22:DC:9E:DB:3B:CE:47:D5:81

Why verifying the root certificate is a good idea
If you download a file from the Internet using an unsecure connection, you risk this file to be compromised, altered, or corrupted by some evil hacker. Strictly speaking you cannot trust anything downloaded over an unsecure connection, unless you have verified it's contents. So the Traxotic Networking root certificate you just downloaded or are about to download, or for that matter the SHA1 hashes published on this website, can not be trusted.
To eliminate this potential security thread, make sure you verify the file you just downloaded. There are basically two ways to do this. The first way is to verify the SHA1 fingerprint which is included inside the certificate file. The second and preferred way is to manually create a SHA1 hash of the file you just downloaded ('ca.crt') and compare it to the SHA1 hash provided by Traxotic Networking. Regardless of the method: if the SHA1 hashes match you can be pretty sure you're dealing with the correct certificate.
How to verify a downloaded file (in this case 'ca.crt')?
Follow the steps below to verify our certificate. Make sure to verify your SHA1 hash over the phone (all clients have the cellphone number of the owner Dennis Baaten) as the SHA1 hash published on this unsecure part of the website can not be trusted.
- Download the Traxotic Networking self-signed root certificate from www.traxotic.net/ca.crt (don't install it yet!).
- Then download one of the following programs to create a SHA1 hash
- HashCalc from SlavaSoft
- HashTab from Beeblebrox
- File Checksum Integrity Verifier (FCIV) Utility from Microsoft
- Call Traxotic Networking to compare SHA1 hashes over the phone.
After successfull verification, it's safe to install and use the certificate.
